- 2024, RSM Georgia: the comparative figures for 2023 were not restated under the new accounting standard for insurance contracts, IFRS 17 (audit report, PDF in Georgian).
- 2025, Nexia Georgia: capital by the regulator's measure was 24.0 million ₾ against a minimum of 7.2 million ₾; net profit was 0.94 million ₾, down from 8.89 million ₾ a year earlier.

Four Unison health insurance plans and their prices
Unison insurance comes in four plans: Classic, Advance, Premium and UNIQUE. Prices start at 49 ₾ a month for Classic and 120 ₾ a month for UNIQUE, the same for Georgian citizens and expats. The plans are for ages 1 to 65, with no deductible.
| Plan | Who it suits | Age | Payment | Limit | Price from |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Classic | basic, without childbirth or cancer care | 1–65 | instalments | 30,000 ₾ | 49 ₾ a month |
| Advance | adds pregnancy, childbirth and cancer care | 1–65 | instalments | 30,000 ₾ | 65 ₾ a month |
| Premium | higher limits for hospital and dental care | 1–65 | instalments | 30,000 ₾ | 85 ₾ a month |
| UNIQUE | 100% for planned hospital care | 1–65 | instalments | 40,000 ₾ | 120 ₾ a month |
Prices go up with age. Under the rules, Unison may change the terms unilaterally even after you have bought the policy — for example, following a rise in medical prices measured by the index of the National Statistics Office of Georgia (clauses 10.2.15 and 13.5) — and may raise the policy price if the basis for calculating it has worsened (clause 10.2.16). If you do not agree within 2 working days of being notified, the contract may be terminated immediately, or within a month under clause 10.2.15.
How to pay for the policy: instalments, late payment, cancellation
The policy is paid in instalments on a schedule you choose when you buy it. Under clause 14.3 of the rules, the first and last months are paid at purchase, within 4 calendar days, and the rest monthly, in 10 equal payments.
If a payment is 14 calendar days late, the insurer may suspend the contract, and claims that arise while you are in arrears will not be paid even after you settle the debt; after 30 days the contract may be terminated (clause 14.2).
If you cancel the contract yourself, the penalty is all the instalments for the remaining months if you have had at least one claim paid (other than family doctor services), or 20% of them if you have not (clause 13.2.2).
Can you insure your family or a student?
The UNI FAMILY plans (+, ++, +++) are sold only by the insurer itself — for three or more people, in Tbilisi, Rustavi, Batumi and Kutaisi. The insurer also sells a policy for international students: a 70,000 ₾ limit, a one-off payment and a 50 ₾ deductible per claim. It offers corporate health insurance as well. An individual contract can also be taken out directly on Unison's website (clause 7.2).
Unison for foreigners: what you need to know
You can buy a policy if you have moved to Georgia: the rules contain no restrictions based on citizenship or residence permit, and the ages and prices are the same. Under clause 9.4 of the rules, a foreigner's treatment is reimbursed at the prices charged to Georgian citizens; if a clinic bills you a “price for foreigners”, the insurer will not cover the difference.
The rules and the Important Terms sheet are available in English and Russian.
Is this policy suitable for a trip to Georgia?
Not for a short trip: it is paid in instalments, and emergency care for a new client is covered only after 15 days (clauses 5.5.2 and 5.10). A travel policy for the dates of your trip is the right choice — see whether travel insurance is mandatory for Georgia.
When the policy starts working: 15 days and other waiting periods
Cover begins at 24:00 on the day you pay the first instalment (clause 12.1), but a new client has waiting periods for emergency care and a number of services.
- emergency care and hospitalisation — 15 days (clauses 5.10 and 5.5.2);
- planned CT and MRI scans — 9 months (clause 5.11);
- planned hospital care and cancer treatment — 12 months (clauses 5.6.3 and 5.8);
- cardiology — 24 months on Classic, 12 on the other plans (clause 5.7.1);
- pregnancy and childbirth — 24 months (clause 5.17.1).
These periods apply to first-time policyholders and to those whose previous contract ended a month or more ago.
What Unison insurance covers and what it does not
All plans include a family doctor, ambulance, outpatient treatment, medicines, hospital care, cardiology and dental care; from Advance upwards they also cover pregnancy, childbirth and cancer treatment. There is no deductible (Important Terms, item 5), but there is a co-payment — your share of the bill (clause 3.25).
- planned hospital care: Classic — 80% up to 5,000 ₾, Advance — 90% up to 8,000 ₾, Premium — 90% up to 12,000 ₾, UNIQUE — 100% up to 20,000 ₾;
- childbirth — 100%: Advance — up to 850 ₾, Premium — 1,000 ₾, UNIQUE — 1,200 ₾;
- on automatic renewal to a plan of the same price or higher, planned hospital care and childbirth are paid at last year's percentages and limits; on a cheaper plan, planned hospital care follows the new plan's terms (clause 7.4);
- dental care: emergency — 100%, planned — 50–80% up to 1,000–2,000 ₾;
- cover applies only in Georgia, excluding the occupied territories (clause 3.15).
What is not covered
Inpatient and day-hospital care for conditions you had before buying the policy is paid only in emergencies (clause 9.2.3). Other exclusions:
- diabetes, hepatitis, AIDS, obesity, epilepsy, mental, congenital and genetic disorders (clause 9.2.1);
- artificial insemination, infertility, contraception (clause 9.2.2);
- cosmetic treatment, alternative medicine, physiotherapy (clause 9.3.1);
- glasses, lenses, hearing aids, prostheses (clause 9.4.2);
- epidemics, professional and high-risk sports, self-treatment (clauses 9.1.4, 9.1.3 and 9.1.1).
Which clinics accept Unison
The official list dated 26 August 2026 includes 265 medical facilities in 65 towns and villages, plus the PSP, Aversi and Impex pharmacy chains. Family doctors see patients at 38 medical centres; online buyers can choose from 24 clinics in 8 cities.
Addresses: Unison clinic list by city on 100doc.ge and the map of all clinics.
What is the “indicated clinic” and can you change it?
It is the family doctor's medical centre and the network outpatient clinic that you choose when you buy the policy (clause 5.1 of the rules). You can change the family doctor's centre once per insurance period: under the Georgian original of the rules, no later than one month after the period starts, while the official Russian translation says the opposite — not earlier than one month after.
Referrals for planned outpatient treatment and preventive care come from the family doctor (clauses 5.1 and 8.1.2). The insurer may replace the network clinic; you will be told no later than 5 working days after the change (clause 10.2.10).
For planned referrals you will go to the family doctor at your “indicated clinic”, and you can change that doctor only once per period. So choose a clinic that is easy for you to get to.
How to get care and claim your money back
Start with a call to +995 32 2 991 991: they will explain the procedure and, if needed, book you in with your family doctor. At a network clinic you pay your share (clause 8.2.2); outside the network you pay the full amount and are reimbursed afterwards.
- There is no separate emergency number — call the same line (clauses 8 and 8.1.1).
- Report a hospital admission within 24 hours, or the hospital stay may not be paid (clause 8.2; note to clause 8.3.6); report an accident immediately and in writing within 14 days (clause 8.2.1).
- If you were treated outside the network, submit your documents within 30 calendar days (clause 8.3): an ID document, the diagnosis and prescription signed and stamped by the doctor (for example, on form 100/a), and receipts.
- Payment is made within 3 working days of receiving all the documents (clause 8.3).
App and online account
Your policy is an electronic card in your “My account” area (clause 3.7), and you can get family doctor services through the app (clause 8.1.1). The app is rated 2 out of 5 on the App Store (19 ratings) and 2.4 on Google Play (38 reviews).
Unison reviews: Google ratings and what customers complain about
The head office has a Google rating of 3.2 out of 5 from 273 ratings (18 October 2026): 124 five-star and 100 one-star ratings, and recent ones are worse — the average for 2025 is 1.7 and for 2026 it is 1.5 (we worked out these averages ourselves). The insurer has not replied to any ratings.
Of the 119 reviews with text, people complain about refused claims (31), about how hard it is to get through by phone (22), about family doctors and referrals (13) and about price and contract terms (10); they praise the managers (7) and hassle-free payouts (3).
I bought a student insurance for my daughter and the lady who represented the company, Eliso, was very kind and helpful.
If you ever need to make a serious claim, they’ll look for any excuse to deny it and hide behind obscure exclusion clauses.
Keep in mind that after a year they may simply refuse to renew your policy without any proper explanation (translated from Russian).
Getting a referral or an appointment is nearly impossible, even for urgent cases.
Contacts: offices in Tbilisi and Batumi
Both offices are open on weekdays from 09:30 to 18:30, and there is one hotline: +995 32 2 991 991. The head office is at 19 Davit Gamrekeli Street, ground floor; email: unison@unison.ge.
Unison office in Batumi
The Batumi office is at 31 Demetre Tavdadebuli Street; the phone number and hours are the same. Its Google rating is 3.4 from 70 ratings. The city has 22 addresses from the official clinic list.
Where to complain if the insurer refuses a claim
Go to the insurer first: within 3 working days they will tell you who is handling your complaint, and a full answer comes within 12 working days, with 30 calendar days as the maximum.
- The insurer. Email complaints@unison.ge, the hotline (clause 18.1 of the rules), an office or the Customer Voice form on its website.
- Insurance State Supervision Service. If the company has not replied within 30 days or you are not satisfied with the answer, you can write to the Supervision Service. The Service checks whether the law has been broken, but does not settle contract disputes — the courts do.
- Court. If you cannot reach an agreement (clause 15 of the rules).
Unison compared with other insurers in Georgia
