Imedi L health insurance: UNO plans and prices
Two plans are sold online: UNO Active, which works through a family doctor, and UNO Comfort, with a free choice of clinic for outpatient care. They cost from 50 to 99 ₾ a month.
| Plan | Who it suits | Age | Monthly payment | Price for a full year paid upfront, 20% off |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UNO Active | those for whom network clinics are enough | under 60 | 50 ₾ | 480 ₾ |
| Active+ | the same, with higher limits | under 60 | 80 ₾ | 768 ₾ |
| UNO Comfort | those who want to choose where to get outpatient care | under 60 | 65 ₾ | 624 ₾ |
| Comfort+ | the same, with higher limits | under 60 | 99 ₾ | 950.40 ₾ |
- There is no deductible (Important Terms and Conditions, section 4).
- Select is sold only on request: the price is set individually, and the age limit is under 65.
- Foreign students have a separate policy for 6 or 12 months (limit 30,000 or 70,000 ₾); corporate insurance is available on request.
- There are no separate insurance rules: the terms are in the contract itself, and if the language versions differ, the Georgian text prevails (Annex 2, clause 10.8). The company may change the standard terms on its own, by an act that states the date it takes effect (the contract's Special Terms and Conditions).
UNO Active or UNO Comfort: through a family doctor or outpatient care at any clinic
On Active, planned care goes only through a family doctor and only to network clinics. On Comfort, you can get outpatient care at any licensed clinic and part of the cost is reimbursed, but planned inpatient care is also network-only (clause 2.5.4).
- Active: a referral from your family doctor, including an electronic one (Annex 1, clause 2.6.4); medicines with the doctor's letter of guarantee at GPC and Pharmadepot pharmacies (clause 2.7).
- Comfort: planned outpatient care is reimbursed at 50% (60% on Comfort+); at “exclusive” clinics with a referral, at 60% and 70% (clauses 2.6.5–2.6.6).
Imedi L for foreigners: can you buy a policy without a residence permit?
Yes. A foreigner can buy UNO online with a passport, at the same price and with the same age limit as a Georgian citizen — under 60; you can pay monthly.
The contract has no citizenship restrictions; the online form also includes Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.
What documents you need to buy online
A foreigner needs a passport or a Georgian residence permit; the buyer must be 18 or over, and one purchase can cover up to 5 people.
Which languages does Imedi L support?
Georgian and English: support, the website and the contracts are in these two languages, and Imedi L does not offer Russian. Documents for reimbursement must be in Georgian or come with a notarised translation (Annex 2, clause 2.6.2).
From what age can a child be insured?
From birth: both online policies cover ages 0 to 59 in full years. A foreign child under 14 needs a birth certificate, a passport and a parent's document (contract, section 1).
When the policy starts: after 48 hours
48 hours after issue, the online policies start working: emergency care, ambulance and family doctor (contract, section 3). Select starts at 24:00 on the fourteenth day after issue.
What is available right away and what after 6 and 12 months
After 12 months, the policy starts paying for planned inpatient and day hospital care, cancer surgery and planned heart surgery. On Comfort, outpatient treatment of chronic conditions and the medicines for it have a 6-month wait. Dental care, diagnostic tests and antenatal care have no waiting period (Annex 1, clause 2.14).
Does previous cover with Imedi L count?
Yes, if the gap between your contracts with Imedi L is no more than a month (Annex 1, clause 2.14).
What the UNO policy covers and what it doesn't
Family doctor, ambulance and emergency outpatient care are covered at 100%; emergency inpatient care at 100% up to 5,000 ₾ (10,000 ₾ on Active+ and Comfort+), plus the same amount again, separately, after an accident. There is no overall annual limit.
Limits by plan in figures
On Active+ and Comfort+ the limits are almost twice as high.
| Service | Active | Active+ | Comfort | Comfort+ |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Planned inpatient (day hospital) care | 80% (50%), 4,000 ₾ | 100% (60%), 8,000 ₾ | 80% (50%), 4,000 ₾ | 100% (60%), 8,000 ₾ |
| Planned outpatient care: “exclusive” (other) clinics | 60% (50%), 800 ₾ | 70% (60%), 1,500 ₾ | 60% (50%), 800 ₾ | 70% (60%), 1,500 ₾ |
| Medicines | 50%, 800 ₾ | 55%, 1,500 ₾ | 50%, 800 ₾ | 55%, 1,500 ₾ |
Emergency outpatient care is paid in full for a closed list of conditions (clause 2.6.2; on Comfort, 2.6.3); other urgent care comes out of the planned care limit. The policy does not work abroad (clause 4.1.8).
Which conditions and services are not covered
The policy does not pay for treatment of tumours (except surgery), mental disorders (clause 4.1.2) or childbirth (clause 4.1.22). There is no blanket exclusion for pre-existing conditions: only what you concealed in the application form is not covered (clause 4.1.19).
- tumours: diagnostics, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone therapy; cancer surgery is paid after 12 months (clause 4.1.21);
- diabetes, chronic kidney and liver failure — except emergency care, surgery and initial diagnosis (clause 4.1.4);
- hepatitis B and C and HIV, except initial diagnosis (clause 4.1.5); on Active, robotic surgery as well (clause 4.1.13).
Who to call and how to get reimbursed
Call the 24/7 call centre on +995 32 292 22 22. At a network clinic, with a referral or a letter of guarantee, you pay only your share; at any other clinic you pay the whole bill yourself. Outside the network, planned inpatient care is not reimbursed, and on Active neither is planned outpatient care.
- Emergency — call an ambulance through the call centre; it is best to report a hospital admission within 24 hours. In the network the company pays; outside it you pay yourself and claim reimbursement (Annex 1, clauses 2.5.3, 2.5.6).
- Planned hospital admission — only at a network hospital with a letter of guarantee, which is issued within 3 working days (clause 2.5.4).
- Documents — medical certificates with a signature and stamp, the original receipt and, for planned care, the doctor's referral (clause 2.6.5; on Comfort, 2.6.7); everything in Georgian or with a notarised translation.
- Deadlines — submit your claim in your online account (the “electronic policy”) no later than 30 days after the date of payment; the money is paid within 10 working days of receiving all documents (clauses 2.11–2.13).
The Imedi L app and online account
In the app and online account you can book a family doctor for a visit, a call or a video consultation, get referrals, claim reimbursement and check your limits.

What to weigh up before buying a UNO policy
For:
- help 48 hours after issue;
- on Active, no waiting period for outpatient care and dental care;
- no deductible.
Against:
- on Active, network clinics only and a doctor's referral; medicines only at two pharmacy chains;
- on Comfort, a 6-month wait for outpatient treatment of chronic conditions;
- the online plans do not pay for treatment of tumours, other than surgery, or for childbirth.
Active or Comfort is a choice between price and freedom. Active is cheaper, but planned treatment goes through a family doctor and only within the network. Comfort lets you see a doctor at any clinic, but planned inpatient care is network-only.
