Frequently asked questions

Questions and answers

Who is required to have tourist insurance when entering Georgia?

From January 1, 2026, insurance is mandatory for all foreign citizens entering Georgia under Georgian Government Resolution No. 602 of 26.12.2025.

Can I buy travel insurance if I am already in Georgia?

Yes. You can take out the policy while you are already in Georgia — your citizenship and where you buy it make no difference. The start date can be today: cover begins on the date you choose and the policy arrives by email within a minute of payment.

What does the IRAO Visitor Insurance policy cover?

The policy covers emergency medical expenses during your trip — from food poisoning to injuries. Light and Standard tariffs provide €10,000 in coverage, Premium — €15,000. For policyholders over 65, expense reimbursement is 50% under IRAO's terms. There is no deductible on any plan — expenses are reimbursed without a co-payment.

What language will my insurance policy be in?

The official IRAO policy is issued in English or Georgian regardless of the language you used to apply — this is a requirement of the IRAO insurer, not something 100doc.ge controls.

How quickly will I receive the policy after payment?

After payment, the policy is sent to the email address you provided when signing up.

What payment methods are available?

Payment is accepted by bank card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.

Can I get a refund if my trip is cancelled?

Yes. We cancel the policy and refund the full amount if at least 48 hours remain before the policy start date. Email help@100doc.ge with your order number and we will arrange the refund. Full terms are set out in the Refund Policy.

Do I need to print the policy?

No, the policy can be shown at the border either electronically (on your phone) or printed.

What's the difference between the Light, Standard, and Premium tariffs?

Light and Standard provide the same €10,000 insurance coverage — Standard additionally includes priority support via Telegram and WhatsApp. Premium provides increased coverage of €15,000.

Where can I buy tourist insurance for entry to Georgia online?

You can buy the policy right here on 100doc.ge: IRAO Visitor Insurance (Vienna Insurance Group) from €0.99 per day, with coverage up to €15,000. No registration is required — the policy arrives by email about a minute after payment by bank card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

How much does insurance for a trip to Georgia cost?

From €0.99 per day on the Light plan, €1.99 on Standard and €2.99 on Premium. Coverage is €10,000 on Light and Standard and €15,000 on Premium. A 7-day trip starts at €6.93 and a 30-day trip at €29.70 per person.

Does this policy meet the mandatory insurance requirement for entry?

Yes. The requirement is set by Georgian Government Resolution No. 602 of 26 December 2025: from 1 January 2026 foreign nationals entering Georgia must hold health insurance with at least the prescribed minimum sum insured. The policy is issued by IRAO, a licensed Georgian insurance company that is part of Vienna Insurance Group; its sum insured and risks meet the Resolution, with no deductible. The policy is issued in Georgian and English — the form border officers expect.

How much does insurance for Georgia cost for 7, 14, 30 or 90 days?

Per person: Light — €6.93 for 7 days, €13.86 for 14, €29.70 for 30, €89.10 for 90 days; Standard — €13.93 / €27.86 / €59.70 / €179.10; Premium — €20.93 / €41.86 / €89.70 / €269.10. Priced per day (from €0.99), children pay the same, no deductible.

How the price is calculated

Three things set the price: the plan you pick, the number of days, and the number of travellers. The daily rate is multiplied by days and by people, and there are no hidden loadings for age, nationality or region of travel. A day costs €0.99 on Light, €1.99 on Standard and €2.99 on Premium. That is why a week for two on Light comes to €13.86, while a month for three on Premium comes to €269.10.

  • one week, one person: from €6.93
  • two weeks, one person: from €13.86
  • one month, one person: from €29.70
  • children are priced as adults; there is no separate child rate

Why this is cheaper than the alternatives

The market for Georgian travel cover starts at roughly €2.5 a day, so €0.99 looks suspiciously low. The reason is unglamorous: it is the same official IRAO policy, sold without the chain of intermediaries who each add a margin. We work as an insurance agent directly with IRAO, and the final price contains only the insurance premium and a service fee for issuing the policy online.

  • competing offers typically start around €2.5 per day
  • the same official IRAO policy, no chain of intermediaries
  • the price contains only premium plus an issuing fee
  • no loadings for age or nationality

The deductible is where cheap policies get expensive

Comparing policies on headline price alone hides the deductible — the amount the insurer never pays under any circumstances. On most cheap policies it is about €50, and that is precisely the range the commonest incidents fall into: sunburn, food poisoning, a doctor's visit for a heavy cold. In practice you pay for those yourself. This policy carries no deductible at all: the insurer pays from the first euro, directly to the clinic.

  • a typical market deductible is about €50
  • most real claims fall inside that amount
  • this policy has no deductible whatsoever
  • the clinic is paid directly, not reimbursed later
If your child gets sick

A policy is issued from birth and children cost no extra. We settle with the clinic directly — you do not have to find the money on the spot:

  • high fever, respiratory infections, tonsillitis, ear infection, bronchitis
  • rotavirus, intestinal infections and food poisoning
  • falls, bruises and fractures — on the playground, in the mountains, at the sea
  • animal and insect bites — emergency rabies and tetanus vaccination
  • acute allergic reaction and heatstroke

The 24/7 support line points you to the nearest children’s clinic and calls an ambulance.

How much is travel insurance for Georgia per day?

From €0.99 per day on the Light plan. Standard is €1.99 and Premium €2.99 per day. The exact total depends on your dates and the number of travellers.

What is the difference between the plans?

Light and Standard both carry €10,000 of cover; Premium raises it to €15,000 and increases the sub-limits for medicines, dentistry, evacuation and repatriation. Standard and Premium add priority support and a 24/7 phone line.

Is there a deductible or co-payment?

No. The insurer pays from the first euro, so small incidents such as food poisoning or sunburn are covered rather than falling below a deductible.

Does the price depend on age?

The daily rate is the same, but for insured travellers over 65 the reimbursement is 50% of the sum insured under IRAO's terms. That limit is worth weighing when choosing a plan.

Is a cheaper policy still accepted at the border?

Yes. Even the Light plan meets the entry requirement, because it is issued by a licensed Georgian insurer and comes in Georgian and English.

Is there a discount for children or groups?

There is no separate child or group rate: every person is charged at the plan's daily rate multiplied by the number of days. Children are, however, insured from birth with no surcharge and no extra paperwork.

Does the price change with age?

No. The rate is the same at every age and there are no age loadings. Age matters only at claim stage: for insured people over 65 IRAO reimburses 50% of costs under its terms.

What happens to my money if the trip falls through?

You get the full amount back if at least 48 hours remain before the policy start date: we cancel the policy and refund the money to the same payment method. Just email help@100doc.ge with your order number.

There are four of us going for 10 days — what will that cost?

On Light it is €0.99 × 10 days × 4 people, so about €40 in total. Standard comes to roughly €80 and Premium to about €120. The calculator on this page gives the exact figure for your dates.

I found a policy for half this price — why is yours more?

Compare the deductible and the sum insured. Cheap policies usually carry a GEL 150 deductible, which covers most real claims — meaning you pay them yourself. This policy has no deductible and settles directly with the clinic.

I need three months of cover — is there a discount?

Pricing is linear with no volume discount: 90 days on Light is about €89. If you are planning to live in the country for close to a year, an annual IRAO Pulse plan fits better than a travel policy.

If I pay today but travel in 30 days, will the price change?

No. The price you pay is locked, and cover begins on the start date you selected. Buying ahead is safe and usually simpler.

Information updated: September 2026. Terms and sums insured are shown in the plan description at checkout.
