BAU International Hospital

Two days ago, I was admitted to the hospital for a cesarean section under general anesthesia, and I was pleased with how quickly my procedures were handled. However, despite having agreed to general anesthesia, I accepted the spinal anesthesia at the insistence and recommendation of the anesthesiologist. My experience afterward was terrible. At the moment he was supposed to administer the anesthesia, he attempted to inject my back six times, saying it wasn't working. When I asked what was happening, writhing in pain, he said he would try 20 times and that I had to endure. At that moment, experiencing intense trauma and pain, I wanted to get off the table for both myself and my baby. Then a male doctor came in, approached the situation kindly, and intervened, not listening to the anesthesiologist. I successfully had the surgery under general anesthesia as I wanted. Regarding the rooms, if we look at the hospital's potential and the fees charged, the situation is dire. The food is subpar; they just drop it off like it's nothing. For breakfast, they brought a slice of bread with margarine and a mushy mixture with noodles. Don't even get me started on lunch and dinner :) For breastfeeding mothers who need energy and morale, the rooms were neglected and dirty, and at certain hours, no companions were allowed. It felt very cruel to have to get up to care for my baby while dealing with the pain of stitches. My birth story, which cost me 2500 lari, was not uplifting or positive at all.

I want to express my immense gratitude to gynecologist Nana Turmanidze. I was under her care throughout my pregnancy. She approached the management of my pregnancy very responsibly. I am 41 years old, and this is my first pregnancy. Every month I came for an appointment and almost every month had an ultrasound. She prescribed all the necessary medications and kept track of their intake. Besides that, Nana is a pleasant person to communicate with. Always brief, clear, and to the point, but attentive at the same time. And I’ll add personally, Nana is the most beautiful girl! Just Miss Georgia 2026! I also want to thank doctor Tamaz Khmaladze. Throughout my pregnancy, I went to him for ultrasounds. Tamaz is a very attentive specialist with vast experience. He even correctly determined the baby's gender at 9 weeks! And what a sense of humor he has! He always supported and encouraged me. I gave birth at 40 weeks. The baby is completely healthy. I express my immense gratitude to gynecologist Rusudan Diasamidze. I have uterine fibroids, several nodes, including 2 large ones. I wouldn’t have been able to give birth naturally; the fibroids prevented the uterus from contracting. Rusudan expertly performed the cesarean section! Around all these nodes, without damaging anything, and leaving the uterus intact. After the surgery, Rusudan came and repositioned the uterus to help it contract. I have never encountered such a level of professionalism and care. Just one conversation with Rusudan is enough to understand what a great specialist she is and what a kind and responsive person she is. I immediately trusted her for such a complicated operation without any doubts. I didn’t choose who I would end up with for the delivery, and I got such a miracle! I recommend all the specialists mentioned. You can contact them without hesitation and trust them. Just the best team of doctors!

I caught a cold during my visit to Georgia and wanted to go to this hospital. But after reading the comments, I became really scared! It's clear that they do everything just to raise your bill unnecessarily, and they shout and treat you roughly - this is a form of psychological control and violence!! I think it will take a couple more centuries to reach the European Union!

Disappointment. The name "International" is just a facade. The clinic director is consistently unfriendly, arrogant, and unqualified. Even his own doctors are treated poorly. The term "international" already exceeds his competencies - a simple English confirmation is impossible anyway. "International" forms are exclusively in Georgian, and there is a complete lack of English proficiency. The organization on-site is a complete joke 😂. The only bright spot: two female doctors were friendly, although one of them deceived us. Everything is presented there as "no problem" - until you need something, then every detail becomes an obstacle.

Unfortunately, our experience with the Emergency service at BAU Clinic in Batumi was extremely disappointing. We came to the emergency department and were met with complete indifference from the staff. There was no sense of urgency, no real attention to the patient’s condition, and absolutely no empathy. Basic questions were answered formally, and any help had to be pushed for.

I can't say it's the best hospital in Georgia, but it is the best in this city. The doctors are competent, and the service is much more humane compared to other hospitals. In the city where the republican hospital exists, Bau is a true salvation.

I went to the hospital because of stomach pain and gas. They kept me there for 8 hours, did an ultrasound, MRI, and blood tests, but in the end they didn’t give me any medicine or painkillers and didn’t even tell me what was wrong. They told me I needed surgery, and if I had agreed, they probably would have rushed me into an operation. When I left they charged me 900 GEL and I went home still in pain. Honestly it’s a scam hospital, places from 150 years ago are more advanced than this one.

Warning for tourists! I do not recommend visiting this medical center if you are not insured. There is deception everywhere here! I went to the center with a problem of high blood pressure, and I was immediately admitted to the hospital. For just 20 hours of stay, I was billed $448. The problem is not so much the high price, but that the bill included services that I did not receive at all and that are unrelated to my case. Be extremely careful and definitely use a translator, as the staff can be misleading. My advice is to stay away from this center!

On October 3rd, I was taken to the emergency room with a headache. The nurses were rude and arrogant, as if I owed them something. When I asked something, they were buried in their phones, and I had to ask 3-4 times for them to hear me. They did a heart ECG, and when it was time to remove it, a woman just yanked the electrodes off, and I felt like I was being crushed. Maybe someone should tell them and teach them that it can be done carefully. I refused to have an X-ray done, but they still made me pay 300 lari. When we got home, my mom looked and when we called, they said we made a mistake, and after 5 days we went ten times, and sometimes they wrote one thing, sometimes another. They still haven't returned the full amount. The only neurologist who examined me was a lady named Elga, probably the only doctor who came, smiled, and asked about my condition. If I were dying and it was free, I wouldn't step foot in there. People, life is precious; go somewhere else. 😡 99 people, all on their phones and social networks, disgusting and indifferent.

I consulted with the ophthalmologist Zarima Chavleishvili. I was very pleased. She is a true professional and a doctor with a capital letter. The consultation is clear, without unnecessary words, and she explains everything accessibly and clearly. The diagnostics and recommendations are top-notch; you can see her enormous experience and attentive attitude towards the patient. Everything is prompt, organized, and maximally correct. I feel confident that I am in reliable hands. Rating — only 10 out of 10.
